Music Education

BFF Director, Kathleen Brungard, has been a music educator for over 50 years and has experienced the positive impact music has had on the lives of her students across the nation.  In addition to music performance they have also benefited from learning music history, music theory, teamwork, discipline and other values necessary to be successful in life whether they pursued careers in music or elsewhere.  The Foundation desires to encourage the development of young people by exposing them to the benefits that the world of music and education have to offer.

Arts & Dance

·       President, Donald Brungard's daughter, Lori, has been interested in the arts since she was a teenager and majored in dance at SUNY Purchase. She soon went on to dance professionally with various modern dance companies in New York and Pittsburgh.  She also has an active interest in film making and has recently retired from dance to pursue a career in Yoga instruction and video documentaries.  She and her husband founded a yoga center in Manhattan and she is combining her interests in the arts, yoga and filmmaking, with activities which the foundation desires to support.

Animal Husbandry

·        President, Donald Brungard's youngest daughter, Julie, has been interested and devoted to animals of all kinds since she was very young.  Dogs, cats, parrots, and most of all horses have been her focal point.  At one juncture she had four horses of her own and has cared for others.  As a result of Julie’s love of animals the foundation also supports causes related to animal husbandry.

Special Needs & Other

Kathy Brungard and her family experienced ‘first hand’ the demanding needs of caring for her ‘special needs’ brother Rick.  As a result of birth defects he suffered from blindness, hearing loss, spinal abnormalities and other health problems.  Rick died at the age of 31.  In recognition of the unique care requirements and demands of ‘special needs’ individuals the Foundation seeks to provide assistance to organizations that serve those needs and other groups that serve worthy causes.
